The Picnic Birkin 25 requires two Hermès artisans working in sequence: a specialist basket weaver forms the Osier wicker body, then a master saddler constructs and attaches the leather elements. Production time is approximately ten hours per bag. Osier is a natural willow that is rigid when dry but can soften or warp with prolonged moisture exposure; the wicker body is not water-resistant and should not be exposed to rain or humidity. Swift calfskin is smooth, fine-grained, and shows scratches more readily than textured leathers; minor surface marks can be buffed out. The striped Osier variant uses wicker strands dyed to match the leather color, interwoven with natural undyed strands; the dyed sections may shift slightly in tone over time with light exposure.
